You know that feeling, right? The feeling when you get something new, or when you are about to do something different, start a new job, find a new friend....whatever the case may be, there is that feeling. The feeling of excitement, you just can't wait to do or have that thing that will make you so happy!
It's like a child in a toy store. Every child will walk down the toy ailes and gaze at all the stuff they don't have and point at what they want. So you buy them a new toy...and you can just see the excitement in their eyes, they can't wait to get home and play with it, right?
I love that feeling, but have you noticed how quick it comes upon us, just as quick... it leaves us. We are left feeling not so excited anymore. Think of that child, how often do you see a kid get a new toy and after a day of playing with it, it ends up in a toy box with everything else they own? No more excitement, no more happy....
Why are we like this? It seems we can never be completely satisfied. We get so pumped up about something, and then it's gone. It seems we are always looking for something different, something new to fulfill that happy place.
So where am I going with this....? I don't know, it is just something I have observed over the last couple weeks and thought it was just a topic people needed to think about. Are we happy? Is God in control of our life? Are we always looking for something new and exciting? Why can't we just be satisfied with what we have or what we are involved in? Why do we get so bored, or discontent?
We are here for one mission, and one mission only....to lead people to Christ, but first we need to see where our own lives are with Christ...are we ready for what God has in store for us? Are you ready for him to use you? Are you excited?! -and if you are, how are you going to stay excited about CHRIST?

WOW, Steph you are truly on fire with the right cause! I'm so glad that your my wife, you are an amazing individual... God is defiantly working in you and through you. This post is amazing... I love you!
These are really deep thoughts Steph on the "new car smell" if you will I can't agree more that we can't consume enough to be satisfied. One thing though, "We are here for one mission, and one mission only....to lead people to Christ." I am not sure I understand this exactly. There is a difference in leading peole to Christ and being so much like Christ that people want to come to Him. I think when we look closely at what Jesus was doing he seemed to be more interested in proclaiming truth that glorified his father and vanquishing the devils handy work then he did "leading" people anywhere. He said, "my sheep know my voice." so he would love them, heal them, die for them but his focus wasn't on them but on God. I don't know maybe I am reading into such phrases I just worry when people think we are here just to lead others to Christ. Jesus said he came so we could live life to the full. which encompasses a lot more then leading others to Christ. It includes drinking coffee, cuddling with our spouses on a lazy afternoon, tickling your kids so hard that they can't breath, reading a great fictional novel, movie days, making love, flying kites, healing people, having friends over, working our secular jobs and feeling like we contributed something to the economy, cooking, softball etc... I live for those moments and glorify God in them as well as any church activity I do. God gets the glory for the whole package and wants me to enjoy every good and perfect gift.
I don't know what do you guys think are we here just to lead others to Christ? I am serious maybe I am off base. Grace and Peace.
Steph,
I love reading your thoughts on life and on God. It seems like God is really at work in your life. I couldn't agree with you more on the mentality that "stuff" will make us happy...that we NEED something new and exciting to excite and invigorate us. What a lie, huh?
